Samuel Dodson, Ph.D.

About Me

I am an Assistant Professor at the Department of Information Science at the University at Buffalo.

My research is at the intersection of human-computer interaction and information retrieval. My work focuses on improving online learning and collaboration, drawing upon a multi-disciplinary body of theory and research from library and information science, computer science, education, and psychology. I explore the tensions and breakdowns in how people find, manage, and use information, and apply these insights towards imagining practices and tools to address these needs.

I am especially interested in teaching courses on data analysis, information retrieval, information visualization, and text mining in order to support students in using and designing digital information systems.
